DESCRIPTION

This Product Standard provides application program access to a relational database via the Structured Query Language (SQL) embedded in C and/or COBOL. X/Open SQL includes dynamic SQL, and is aligned with ISO/IEC 9075:1992 (SQL).1 It also includes specifications which allow portability of applications to distributed environments.

Portability Interface

The SQL Specification,2 with any of the following:

Programming Language Environment

SQL language as defined in the SQL Specification embedded in C and/or COBOL. C language and/or COBOL source programs invoking the services of this Product Standard must be supported by the registered product.

Interoperability

Products conforming to this Product Standard may optionally support the XA interface for integration into a TP system as defined in the XA Specification3, Resource Manager conformance requirements in a C Language environment.

OPERATIONAL ENVIRONMENT

Not applicable.

PORTABILITY ENVIRONMENT

XPG3 Internationalized System Calls and Libraries, Internationalized System Calls and Libraries, Internationalized System Calls and Libraries Extended, or Internationalized System Calls and Libraries Extended V2 (except for XA).

OVERRIDING STANDARDS

ISO/IEC 9075:1992 (SQL).

INDICATORS OF COMPLIANCE

A Test Report from a currently authorized release of the NIST/SQL Test Suite Release 5.

MIGRATION

Largely compatible with the XPG3 SQL Product Standard. The differences are identified in Section 1.3, This Edition, of the SQL Specification.
