TOGAF 8 TRAINING

When this logo is used on, or in relation to, a product registered as conformant to this Product Standard, it must be accompanied by an attribution, in the form defined in the TOGAF Certification Agreement, which includes the TOGAF 8 TRAINING Product Standard name.

DESCRIPTION

The TOGAF 8 TRAINING Product Standard defines core requirements for training courses that enable IT Architecture practitioners to acquire the necessary knowledge and awareness of The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), Version 8¹ to be able to use it effectively in IT Architecture work. Individuals who successfully complete a training course that is a TOGAF 8 TRAINING certified product are eligible for registration to the TOGAF 8 CERTIFIED Product Standard.

CONFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

A TOGAF 8 TRAINING certified product (hereafter referred to simply as the "course") may be a single course, or a defined configuration of courses from a single family of related courseware. A course may be delivered by live instructor(s) or by remote learning.

A conforming course shall enable its defined target audience to acquire the necessary knowledge and awareness of the following:

• The sequence and content of the Phases, Steps, and Activities comprising the TOGAF 8.1 Architecture Development Method²

• The Information Sets and other deliverables generated and/or used in the TOGAF 8.1 Architecture Development Method³

• The structure and content of the TOGAF Foundation Architecture, as defined in the TOGAF 8.1 Core Definition,⁴ including:

  • The model and taxonomy of the TOGAF Technical Reference Model

  • The Standards Information Base

• The structure and content of the TOGAF Enterprise Continuum, as defined in the TOGAF 8.1 Core Definition⁵

• The relationship of TOGAF to other architectures and architecture frameworks, as defined in the TOGAF 8.1 Core Definition⁶

A conforming course may optionally cover the use of tools certified to the TOGAF 8 TOOL SUPPORT Product Standard,⁷ for the development of IT Architectures using TOGAF.

In the case of a course delivered by one or more live instructors, all instructors must be listed on the Certification Register as TOGAF 8 CERTIFIED.

In order for an Applicant to submit a course for certification to the TOGAF 8 TRAINING Product Standard, the applicant must meet the following requirements:

• Be a current commercial licensee of TOGAF Version 8.1.

• Commit to register with The Open Group:

  The names of individuals who have satisfactorily completed a TOGAF 8 TRAINING certified course, and who indicate they wish their names to be submitted for certification to the TOGAF 8 CERTIFIED Product Standard, within 30 days of the completion of the course.

• Commit to The Open Group that:

  They will not submit the names of individuals for certification to the TOGAF 8 CERTIFIED Product Standard, if the individual has not demonstrated satisfactory participation and commitment to the course.

OPERATIONAL ENVIRONMENT

Not applicable.

PORTABILITY ENVIRONMENT

Not applicable.

OVERRIDING STANDARDS

ANSI/IEEE 1471:2000⁸ is an overriding standard for the optional conformance requirement relating to ANSI/IEEE 1471:2000.

There are no other overriding standards for this Product Standard.

INDICATORS OF COMPLIANCE

The Indicators of Compliance for this Product Standard shall be:

• Completion of the TOGAF 8 TRAINING Conformance Statement, which shows how the actual syllabus of the course(s) comprising the product being submitted for registration to the TOGAF 8 TRAINING Product Standard map to the conformance requirements listed above.

• In the case of training delivered by live instructor(s), a commitment that, when a presentation of a course is to be used as a basis for training candidates for registration to the TOGAF 8 CERTIFIED Product Standard, only identified TOGAF 8 CERTIFIED instructors will be used and their names be declared with the registration of individuals for the TOGAF 8 CERTIFIED Product Standard.

MIGRATION

As this is the first version of this Product Standard, there are no migration issues.
